24 Israeli soldiers killed, 85 wounded in S. Lebanon Saturday -- Spokesman


(KUNA) -- Up to 24 Israeli soldiers were killed in Lebanon in confrontations with Hezbollah Saturday, the Israeli army said Sunday.A spokesman of the Israeli army told Radio Israel that 19 Israeli soldiers were killed in the land confrontations across South Lebanon, whereas five others, who were on board a helicopter that was missiled down last night, are missing and presumed dead.According to the spokesman, 85 Israeli soldiers and officers were wounded in day 32 of the Lebanon war, 12 of them now in critical condition.The radio added that two of the soldiers were accidentally run over by an Israeli military vehicle.Meanwhile, Israeli sources claimed that the army killed over 50 Hezbollah fighters during the battles in South Lebanon.
