American Hezbollah fighter buried

A Lebanese-American Hezbollah fighter, killed during the July-August war with Israel, was buried yesterday in southern Lebanon. Saleh Anwar Saleh, 34, was buried in his native village of Yarun in the presence of his father, 65-year-old Anwar, as well as his two daughters and two sons who travelled from the US to attend the ceremony.
“We all have American citizenship,” said Anwar Saleh, showing his navy blue US passport. The ceremony was also attended by Hezbollah MP Hassan Hoballah. The Lebanese Shi’ite Hezbollah said it lost 61 fighters during 34 days of fierce battles with Israeli troops that ended in a UN-brokered ceasefire on August 14.
Meanwhile, four United Nations experts said in a report published yesterday that Israel committed serious violations of human rights during its offensive in Lebanon.
